'''RFC''' -- Request for Comments, on RFC Editorin julkaisemia dokumentteja. Suurin osa niistä on alunperin [[IETF]] (Internet Engineering Task Force) julkaisemia spesifikaatioitatekemiä määrittelyjä, mutta osa niistä tulee myös IETF:n ulkopuolelta, esim Independent Steam julkaisuina tai IRTF:n julkaisuina.. Spesifikaatiot on numeroitu alkaen numerosta 1. Tällä hetkellä numerot ovat jo lähetymässä kymmentätuhatta.

RFC:hin viitataan yleensä muodossa RFC5280 tai RFC 5280ja ne löytyvät [https://www.rfc-editor.org/search/rfc_search_detail.php RFC Editorin hakusivun kautta] tai katsomalla [https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc-index.html RFC Index] listasta.
== Standard Track ==
Standard Track luokan RFC:t ovat varsinaisia IETF:n julkaisemia standardeja, ja niitäkin on useampaa eri tasoa, sen mukaan miten pitkälle standardointi on edennyt. Aikaisemmin tasoja oli kolme: Proposed Standard, Draft Standard, ja Internet Standard, mutta nykyään vain kaksi Proposed Standard ja Internet Standard.
Standard Track RFC:hin voidaan viitata myös muodossa [https://www.rfc-editor.org/info/std70 STD70], jolloin viitataan ryhmään RFC:tä jotka yhdessä muodostavat standardin. Standardista on oma lista [https://www.rfc-editor.org/standards Standards] RFC Editorin sivuilla.
